Francis Fire

As a result of the wildfire, properties located below or downstream of the burn areas are at an increased risk for flooding. Excessive amounts of rainfall can happen throughout the year. Rivers of liquid and flowing mud are caused by a combination of brush loss and subsequent heavy rains. Rapid snow-melt can also trigger mud-flows. Please visit FEMA/flood-after-fire and FEMA/national-flood-insurance-program for more information.

The City has provided sand and sandbags for for residents most likely to experience flooding due to the fire. You can fill bags in the fenced area at the City stock yard just West of Nicholls Park, and also the empty lot just North of the Rock Loft. Plan on bringing your own shovel and means to transport your filled bags.
